The battery that came with mine didn't last real long either I took the small original battery out and ran the wires out the bottom of the charger caulked the hole to keep mice out and hooked it up to a car battery problem solved ,I keep a spare all charged up and ready to go when the other one gets low and then charge it back up , the problem is the position and lack of sun in the winter the solar panel just doesn't get enough sun to keep it going .But the unit packs a good jolt and I'm very happy with it . I cover the car battery with a old ice chest with out a lid and keep the battery on a board and put the cooler over the battery upside down .

Just take the wires off the battery that it came with and take the old battery out , you might want to take a look at which one is on the positive terminal so you hook it back up the same way on your new car battery , I can't remember if they are color coded but red is positive and black is negative . Fish the two battery wires out the bottom of the unit and caulk the hole and hook them to your car battery , its been a couple years since i did this and the wires might not be long enough to reach the ground where you have your battery located if this is the case you will have to add the length of wire you need to each one to make it long enough if you have to do this i would make the connections so they end up inside the parmack unit that way weather won't corrode your connections , it might sound complicated buts its a 30 min. job at most , if you don't want to make solder connections you could use wire nuts to make your connection but make sure they stay inside the unit and tape them with electrical tape .I put medium size alligator clips on the battery end to make changing batteries quick easy .
