It is looking like not a great year for honey for me and mine. Given that, I have a couple of hives I started from a small swarm, and some swarm cells. Added some brood to kick start them. This was back in Mid May. They have done very well building up pop. wise on mostly drawn comb. They now pretty well occupy two deeps. Queen is in the top and still laying up a storm. They have very little stores. Seems like they use it at fast as it comes in. Other hives are putting enough away for winter. Just coincidence? Queen not shutting down soon enough? Will have to be a great fall flow for them to put enough away and not have to give them honey for the winter.
Any thoughts appreciated.
