I've never see anything more than a 3-way bee escape. I'd love to see a photo of what you are talking about . . .

 

Internet search for "8-way bee escape", you'll see plenty and places to buy. Old site http://www.dave-cushman.net/bee/8wayescapebd.html has a view and description.

Use them on my couple of hives, mounted on a board with a larger hole cut and shims on either side. Clears a super decently in 24 hours, maybe 95% or so of the bees.

Just another variation on the theme.

 

I have never used them but they seem like I could throw them on my inner covers with a couple of screws and a cordless driver and later convert the covers back. Storing 40 or 50 one way escape boards for fifty weeks out of the year as opposed to just these discs seems like a good idea.

 

I have used the bee escapes using the orange cones for the last 12 years . Clears most bees in 24 to 48 hours.

 

By “orange cones” do you mean this same eight way bee escape that is in question?

 

I have used the triangle escape ones and they work well most of the time. I have not tried the 8 way ones
