Lots of yellowjackets patroling the ground around my hives. The are pretty much ignoring my phermone-based yellowjacket traps. I sat and watched this morning. They seem to be after dead or dying bees in the yard. None are messing with the entrance to the hives or attempting to get in.

Two strong hives are doing fine. One newer split is okay, but the comb has that wavy, non-level look that I've seen before on a stressed hive. Do you know what I'm talking about? Have you seen this before?

I was going to chum one of my traps with some drone larve. Initially I resisted this idea, but the yellowjackets already seem to be "turned on" to honeybees. Any thoughts?

I'd put a robber screen on the weak one, the other two should be fine if they're strong. Raw meat in your YJ traps should do the samething as drone larva, but either will work.
