My sister in law and niece entered a bottle of our honey in the Vanderburg County 4H fair this year, just for fun (without telling me or my brother).

We got a nice big blue ribbon on it, so I can now sell it as "award winning" honey with a straight face!

It was extra nice this year, very light and super tasty -- much better than last years, which had some fall honey in it due to needing to clean up some messy comb in the brood nest. Much stronger flavor, not bad but not the super floral stuff this year.

I'm hoping next year to have six hives full of honey instead of one!

Great feeling. Congratulations!
We won first place last year here at the San Diego County Fair. Thought we had no chance beeing first timers. Recieved a new smoker.
Alas, this year we placed further down the list, but the contest is great fun and you meet alot of special people. The local beekeepers assoc. has a booth with an observation hive, candle making, honey tasting etc. Great way to get the public aware of the issues facing the honey bee as well as indiginous pollinators.

While Beesource may not have a "Like" button, it does have a "Rate This Thread" button. :D

That button is immediately above the #1 post on this page. The rating is some kind of mix of all votes received, but as I was the first one, this is now a 5 GOLD Star Thread. You can see the thread ratings by looking at the Bee Forum page here:

Oh, and nice job, Peter!:thumbsup:
