Setup : two hives installed from packages last April. They are in two deeps with a honey super still mostly full.

Today was in theb70's so I took a peek inside and had plenty of bees and stil lots of honey.

Questions:
1. What should you look for in winter?
2. My club talks about feeding in late jan and early feb to get a jump on spring BUT I have a Stoney super on so won't they just store the sugar water there causing me trouble later?
3. Winter is boring I can't wait until spring I am going to split each hive when my queens come in(not a question just a statement)

Why didn't you take the super off? Was there no stores in the bottom two boxes? If you don't have an excluder under that super, the queen will be laying up there. Not a problem if you don't mind.
