Will Bees make a hive in burnt wood?

HI I'm new to beekeeping. I just finished building my first hive. I built a TBH out of half a barrel. It was a fun project but now i'm thinking of building a TBH out of a Kentucky Bourbon Barrel. Living in Kentucky it seems the thing to do. However i don't want to waist time and money if i won't be able to get the bees to stay in it. Any thoughts??
