Bees do not get "lured" away from their hive so no, the trap will not affect them that way. I have a trap barely 50' from my apiary. It hit once last year but the virgin queen that was part of that swarm did not make it back. 60 yards ought to be fine. Still, the chances are any swarm you catch will be your own bees. I try to place traps several miles from my apiary but at places I frequent often.
Will a swarm trap cause swarming?
I would like to try my hand at catching a swarm but the only decent place I could put a trap would be about 60 yards from my hives. Would having a swarm trap that close be tempting enough to lure my bees from their hive and swarm?
