I got two packages from Kelley's this year. I picked up the packages at Kelley's. They said that they marked all of their queens with white because it the easiest to see of all the colors. I don't know if they marked them or if the bees came from Hardeman that way. It could be the reason they are white.
I got some queens from Hardeman's a few years ago and they were marked white then, even though white wasn't the official color that year either. It's probably just the color they prefer...or they have a boatload of white markers and will not change until they're depleted.
