I have a small colony in a 5 frame nuc which recently was queenless. It took me a qouple of days to get a new mated queen. During this time I have been feeding them pollen and sugar water 1:1 to help build up stores. It seems as if they have been filling all the frames with the sugar water but not drawing new comb. 4 of the 5 frames was almost completely full. I took out one plastic frame since they did not draw any new comb on it. I added an old, empty frame for them to clean so that the queen can have space to lay. I introduced the new queen yesterday. My question is, when can I transfer the hive into a 10 frame box? Should I wait a few days, till the new queen is released by them and she starts laying or should I rather do it as soon as possible?
