My hive seemed to be Queenless, so I requeened. She was released Friday afternoon.

When would you recommend I inspect for eggs? I have read that one should wait a week before inspecting a new package... But if for any reason this new Queen isn't working out, I can't delay finding that out for too long.

If anyone has a recommendation, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you!

If the queen is out of the cage, I would wait only about a week from the time she was free of the cage, and there should be evidence of egg laying. Be sure to keep the entrance reduced and have plenty of sugar syrup available, especially if they are on new foundation.

Just a word of caution, even if you do everything you can, they may supercede her.

Good luck!

The logic behind the week wait is a large disruption of the brood nest so soon after a new queen is introduce could cause the bees to blame her and as mentioned supersede her.
