It seems, like most things in beekeeping, that there are many different tips tricks on adding 2nd brood box. I know I should wait till 80% drawn comb, but do any of y’all just add the box and that’s it? On research I’m seeing some people mentioning to checkerboard frames or spraying foundation with syrup.

Some of what I would do depends on what size boxes you have. If you have all the same size frames then I would pull a drawn comb up to the middle of the next box when you add it. Bare wax doesn't need anything. Bare plastic, spraying with syrup might help acceptance.
