When a virgin queen goes for her mating flight, does she have a large accompanyment of bees that come out of the hive? Kinda like a swarm.

Sometimes they do have a large accompanyment of workers that come out with her to shield her till she is out and away from the nest. The bees then return to the hive once she is out.

I don't see bees going out with her. Even when she fly out there is no bee going after her because her
speed is just too fast. The buzz sound is louder than a worker bee but lower than a drone bee. I got a
vid on her took off while I was messing with the frame that she was on.
She usually does her mating flight alone in the warm afternoon and come back in early evening before the sunset.
She will do this about 3 days or more depending if the weather cooperate
and there are enough drones out there to complete her process.
