I have three colonies on the mountain camp method. they still have alot of dry sugar on the top bars. what temp range do you decide to pull off the dry sugar and start to feed 1-1? here is still cold snow predicted today and it will be more than 1 month before dandelions bloom so i know it is still to early. do you wait until the dandelions are blooming?

I've already started removing mine. When it starts getting warmer (highs regularly above 50) and you see them starting to pull the sugar out to throw it away go I go ahead and pull it. I then get a pot water boiling and make 1:1 syrup out of it. I remove the newspaper I can then drop the rest in the boiling water. When you add the sugar turn the stove off. The water is hot enough to liquidate the sugar but not too hot to carmelize it... if you turn the stove off. I pour it through a strainer to remove the bits of various things that may have been in the sugar. Then put it in a feeder and feed it back to them.
