Hi,
Just wondered if anyone knew what kind of Bee this is - or whether it actually is a Bee!

There seems to be a lot of its type around suddenly
64536
(edge of Chester, UK) and its unusual looking, so intrigued me enough to ask some experts!

Thanks
Paul

Definitely a fly or some kind. Bees also have hairs growing out of their eyes, but the wings are a dead giveaway.

There are some hoverflies that have evolved to look quite like bumblebees. But not sure if this is one of them or not. I think they typically look a little fluffier than the one pictured.

The one pictured is a fly, though.

I've never seen a fly quite like that before - if you want a definitive answer from expert entomologists, then visit: Identifying insects If you then upload that photo and include a few details about the insect, then they'll ID it and get back to you ...
Let us know - I'm curious.
Chester ? Nice part of the world - I lived in Nantwich for a while, while studying at Keele. Good beer.
