Opened one of my hives a few weeks back and found a bunch of these on the inner cover. All black bees even the wings... but all my hives are the usual tan/brown Carniolans. Wild Robbers? Oddballs? Seem to have moved on....
Like Elmer said, it does sort of look like a fly. Where I am located we have Carpenter Bees that are all black. I did a search on line for black bees, got this image of a carpenter bee.
