What about the honey I left in the hive?

1566 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  NewJoe
My hive died in December, leaving me with five or more bars of honey. I figured the new package would need something to eat. However, when the package is installed, they will be concentrating on building brood comb and raising brood, which means they will want syup, not honey. Should I leave the honey in the hive or yank it, knowing I'm going to be feeding like mad? - Mike

I very much doubt bees would rather have syrup than honey for raising brood. What do they eat if they're living in a dead tree somewhere during spring buildup?

Take out?
leave it they will build faster with honey.
I would rather feed them honey instead of syrup any day!
