weak Nuc

I have a 5 frame nuc that seems to be getting weaker and weaker. Weaker by less/less bees in there as we move on in the season. I feed them but they don't take the feed anymore. However, had ants move in that liked the feed, so I removed the feeder (frame feeder)

There still is some eggs/larve/capped cells - but almost no stores.

Yesterday I looked and now down to say 1 1/2 lbs of bees. (Plus whatever is out in the field).

I have the entrance reduce in place down to the smallest size, just not sure.

Any good ways to give this NUC a boost? Perhaps a frame of mostly capped brood?

how about doing a proper open it up and look at every frame for problems like No queen? or illness. start there then if no queen combine hive if other problems sovle what you find.
Brood will boost them but find out what's wrong. Most of the time, when I have that problem, I give them brood and end up re-queening at some point. If it gets late in the year, I just combine the nuc with another hive...so long as the nuc doesn't have obvious disease.
