I harvested honey yesterday. It was too hot and the comb from several of the frames collapsed and had to be crushed to extract the honey. My question is, is there any way to get the bees to reuse the wax from those combs. How do a accomplish that? Put it in the hive? Leave it nearby? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

they wont reuse wax in an ammount thats worth your trouble. crush the comb, drain the honey, let the bees clean the crushed comb, and melt it down. good luck, mike

Right now there is some extra wax melting in the solar melter and I hope that the sun keeps shining. I run some of that wax several times to get it as clean as possible. I might trade it for some foundation. Other than that I have not found any more use for it. Take care and have fun

I've been using the melted wax to freshen up some plasticell foundation they didn't want to pull. It really has worked and I may actually try it again someday. Atleast keep some on hand for a quick nuc or a swarm.
