I built deep frames and do not plan on using any foundation for the brood box. I added a bevel to the bottom of the top board which I believe will work fine for the bees to use as alignment to draw their own foundation. In order to give the deep more strength I added another beveled bar half way down on the frame. The purpose was for additional support. I am concerned about whether this additional beveled support bar will interfere with the normal brood pattern in the lower deeps? Does anyone have any experience with using frames without foundations in their deep brood boxes. I'll take a picture and post it here later.

I just wire the frames as normal (middle 2 holes) the bees build right around the wire incorporating it into their comb. Fishing line works also. They really only need a guide on the bottom of the TOP bar.
