I could have used my queen-muff yesterday to remove attendants from a queen cage but it was at home. So I got in the car (ac on) with the windows up, and I used my bee jacket as a muff. I put my hands in the sleeve openings and released the bees into the visor/head section of the jacket.
Breathing on the cage helps to clear the bees out. And then it's easy to get the queen to walk back in.
I'm not sure I would have bought a queen-muff had I thought of this before.
