Over the last several days I have gone by the hives to see whats going on, and have found a lot of bees on and around the entrance. I saw several post earlier where other had seen bees at the entrance that looked like the were scrubbing the landing, these appear to be doing the same thing. There are lots of bees flying in and out of the hive and these bees remain there with other bees crawling over them to get inside. It doesn't appear that they are fighting, what are they doing.

Without video to confirm it, it sounds like they're washboarding. They sort of line up and move back and forth in the scrubbing motion you describe. As far as I know, nobody really knows why they do it, but it's pretty common.
