I run 10 frame mediums and have seen the queen 5 boxes up. As soon as the flow starts, they start pushing her down by storing honey. She usually will end up in the bottom two or three boxes.
How many frames does she typically lay eggs in on the second and third mediums? Is it the same coverage as in the bottom chamber, say, the six middle frames?
The brood nest is roughly football shaped in eight frame mediums. In other words somewhat spherical but elongated up and down. The top box usually has brood only in the center three or four frames rather than all of them or most of them.
