Ultimate Hive Cover?!?!

Anyone use one of the new "Ultimate Hive Covers" yet? If so, how strong are they and can I still strap my hive down with a ratchet strap?? Looks like a good idea.

To answer your question, yes, u can use straps with them. I contacted them direct and they were selling for 24.50 each with free shipping. You do however have to order them in lots of two. I guess they are boxed from the manufacturer two in a box, thus the requirement to order two.

Do they require, suggest or decline an inner cover?

Re: Ultimate Hive Cover?!?!

I bought one from Mann Lake a month ago. It seems strong, but it is light in weight. I think it may need a weight if you are in a unprotected windy area.

I put it on top of a molded tray top feeder and had a bunch of bees crawl under and drown. It has air gaps molded into the inside surface for air flow. I think an inner cover with the center hole sealed off, or an inner screen should fix that problem.
