Do or have any of you guys used treated plywood for your pallets or bottoms? I need to make up a bunch and trying to choose from using treated or just exterior plywood. I was wondering if the chemicals in the treated stuff might affect the bees. :scratch:

We use treated only on the pallet stringers and used on ground boards, not bottom boards, before we used pallets, so never on the 'interior' parts of the colonies.

I thought it might be a problem, I know they changed the chemicals they used about 8 years ago but didn't know if it is just as bad as the old stuff. So far I have only used treated on stands for my hives.

We just dip the whole pallet in parafin hot tank.

We dip whole pallet in copper nap. No problems with death losses but a good idea to let them air out before use.


Are the parrifan dipped pallets slick on the trucks and forklift forks? I think they would last longer than copper nap.
