I set up a funnel on a bee tree hole yesterday evening..I also place a deep hive body with a frame of brood and nurse bees on it within 6 inches of the entrance hole..immediatly all the foraging bees collected on the screen directly in front of the hole, there was a wad about the diameter of a baseball..a few bees went into the deep but not many..this morning I checked them and the same wad was still on the screen in front of the hole and maybe 2-3 milling around the hive landing board..do I need to do anything else or will they work it out? thanks!!

I think if you look in the box, you will find that the baseball has had a rotation of bees. As they find their way into the box, more come out of the funnel. The ball at the bottom is the ones that came out recently and haven't found their way into the box. It will be that way throughout the trapout. If not, the ball would grow each time more came out of the funnel.
