I had built two top bar hives and bought two packages of bees. My other one was going to get put out by a cow grazing field, and one in my back yard. I had my first package installed and they were active for a few days. Then day 6 it was beautiful out,(sunny 80) so I pulled my cover off bottom of tbh. Exposing screened bottom. Then a few hours later they were gone. They had started building comb but no wueen to be found, no eggs, just a few pollen filled holes. My new package is coming in a few days. Im putting them in my backyard tbh now. I recommend no screen on your tbh, just use a bottom board. Anyways is there a way i could just bait my other tbh and catch a swarm? Anything else i would have to do set a trap?

Bees are more likely to abscond with a screened bottom.
You need more than a hundred bees for the hive to be successful, buying a queen won't fix it. If it's a good year or you feed your second hive, you may be able to split them later this year especially if you are willing to buy a queen.
