I not sure but I believe I may have a hive that is getting to crowded. The hive has become much more aggressive over the past few weeks. Chasing the lawn mower, and when I open with smoke I take 20 to 30 stings to the gloves and swarm me. I have two brood chambers and two supers on this hive the top super is pulled and some honey. The bees seem to fill the hive from top to bottom at about 4pm in the evening. When you go by the hive in late evening it sounds like a small weedeater running. I am considering doing a split. So what do you fine folks think.

look for evidence of a queen(fresh eggs).add another super. arent you in the middle of the flow there? if so, wait till its over before you split. if they're "bearding" on the outside of the hive, increase your ventilation.
good luck,mike
