I’m using a 1 gallon internal frame feeder on my one week old nuc and noticed some tiny ants crawling around.

Can I treat the perimeter of the hive with boric acid?

Or anything else? Recommendations?

Or will that also kill the bees?

Yes you can put boric acid down. I mix with granulated sugar and place inside a jar on its side, under the hive. Put a lid that bees can’t pass through if you like.

A colony of ants can carry off quite a bit of sugar in a short time. Hard to tell how much the bees are consuming with the ants eating the syrup too.
