Hi All
I plan on stating my second trap-out this Saturday. I realize the six-week rule, but after watching a swarm today go into an 1800's era house that likely Mark Twain had been partying in, I realized I should ask two major questions.
1st Q) If you know a swarm entered a house today, do you really need to wait 6 weeks to completely trap them out? Aren't they mostly foragers that if you set a trap-out on shouldn't this take only a week at max?
2nd Q) As I will start a trap-out this coming Saturday on an established hive, is there a date to which one should entertain as "Too Late" to start a trap-out? Six weeks from this Saturday will place us into about August, and a dearth.
Should I stop trapping out after this weekend, or is anytime a good time as you could always team up your trap out with a weak hive, or a strong hive for that matter?
Your input is welcomed here.
Regards,
Greathorned

If you watched them go in throw up a Hogan trapout with the cone in from day one they will probably abscond , in a few days, you may be able to catch the queen on her way out if you put a little piece of queen excluded over the hiveentrance
