Starting to get on towards spring, and this year I intend to catch me some swarms, dagnabbit! So, time to start building swarm traps/5 frame nucs. Actual details are on my blog (link in sig) if anybody cares to see me building it or get the plans for them.

I figure that overall, the box cost me about $3 in materials each and around 2 hours each to build. So if one gets vandalized/stolen (hence the camo paint to try and hide them a bit), it won't be a great loss.

I'm just hoping with the winter we've had that some of the local bees make it through the winter. I'm not counting on this being a big swarm season in our area. Best of luck to you. Hope things are better down south.

I would put up a few 10-frame size too. The scouts measure the inside and larger swarms won't be interested in 5-frame boxes.
