Historically, Beesource allowed 24 hours for members to edit/correct their posts. That system was in place from at least 2011 until the recent switch to Xenforo software, when the limits went out the window and there was no time limit on editing posts.

Unfortunately, spammers saw a way to take advantage of this 'loophole'.

What they would do is join Beesource, then post an innocuous/trivial reply to an old thread, then days later when they thought nobody was watching, go back and edit their posts to insert link spam. If we allowed this to continue to occur, the forum would end up filled with spam posts. You don't have to look too far to find examples of such forums.

So, we have reverted to the traditional 24 hour limit to edit posts. [As a courtesy to 'Premium' members, at this time they have 72 hours to edit their posts.]

After 24 hours / 72 hours, if you really need to edit one of your posts, you will need to PM a moderator to get them to make the changes.

While this should make it harder for spammers, some will still get through. If you see a post with a link that appears to be spam, please use the 'report' button to flag it. (Click on the 3 dots in the upper right of the message, then select "Report".)

Anyway to stop being able to post a link until you have made link 10 posts and been a member for like 3 months ?
Also, just my thought, but maybe limit editing a post to 4 hours. I can't see why someone would need longer. They can just make another post under it as an edit?
