Today starts the third day of my first nuc, went out to check on them this morning and they were bringing in pollen despite the rain. There were also a few dead late stage larvae on the ground below the entrance and some new young bees walking around.
I remember the first days I had bees at my house. I was looking at the hives most every day and begging for an excuse to go into the hive to inspect. Enjoy and make a game out of how much you can observe and figure out by watching the hive entrance.
I've learned a lot so far, watching the directions they are flying off to and the color of pollen they are bringing in. Watched an orientation flight last night, that was interesting because I didn't know what it was at first. I did a bad thing and tipped the cover just enough to see inside today, couldn't resist. They did not seem to mind though, just kept doing what they do best.
