The Zest Hive

Any members on the fora here please with the knowledge of the above, i seek guidance on construction and management

I haven't studied the hive in any detail, but an initial impression gained from that website suggests that those special uber-expensive frames are unnecessary and could very easily be replaced by wooden frames.

Functionally they would appear to operate with similar procedures to Layens hives or other deep frame single box hives where honey stores are pushed to the rear away from the entrance and brood frames.

The detail of light weight insulative concrete instead of wood for the hive body may be important where wood is expensive and destroyed by ants/termites.

The frames could be made from wood using very simple carpentry tools and skills. Forget about the fancy sounding name the "inventors" entice you with.
