Does anyone know if they are going to revise it any time soon? If not, then where should I look for the best price? Not amazon, it's ridiculous on there.

Order it directly from Dadant for $36 plus shipping.

Sorry, I have no idea when they might put out a new version.

The reselling for this book is really criminal -- I'm almost tempted to resell at cost (with the shipping markup) to stick it to those trying to resell for $150+!

Walter T. Kelley also $36.00, or call 1-800-233-2899 Cat#261.
If, like me, you actually WANT and older edition - prior to when A.I. Root began altering and adulterating the material in it - then you can get it, free, from Google:

A Practical Treatise on the Hive and Honey-Bee (Rev. L.L. Langstroth, 1863)

You will be astonished at what HAS been changed - and should not have. The only useful additions of the Root publishing house has been expanding the disease chapter to include the modern discoveries and recent afflictions, which you can read more thoroughly about in other texts, anyway.
The digital edition is available as a pdf at The Gutenberg Project. You can use the calibre app to convert it to any ebook format you desire.

I agree with you that the original edition is great. The latest (still not very new) is fantastic. I don't think they should be considered the same book. The new edition stands on its own. The older edition does so as well.

That would be C.P. Dadant... and then Roy Grout and eventually others... A.I. Root wrote the competing book for his competing publishing company...

A very good edition of the old one is "The Hive and the Honey Bee Revisited". It has comments by Dr. Hoopingarner showing the research where Langstroth was proven right and (rarely) where he was proven wrong. It's the original book with an up to date commentary.
