I just walked outside and noticed that the usual crowd of bees wasn't hanging out on the front of my top bar hive. I took a peek in the window and everyone was gone! Took a look and saw numerous SHB with larvae hatching all over the comb. The funny thing is, I have been battling them in my lang hive like crazy, but I had only seen a few in the TBH. I checked it just yesterday and didn't see any signs of them. Now that the comb isn't covered in bees, I can see that there are way more than I would have imagined and it looks like massive amounts of larvae are all emerging at once. Lesson learned. I had not been inspecting this hive nearly as close as the lang because of the comb breaking off every time I took the bars out, I just looked at what was happening through the window in the side. They seemed to be doing much better than my lang from what I could tell. Hope they find a nice home. Is it too late to get another package?
