Until recently he could be found over at Beemaster - dunno if he's still there though. I moved forums in the opposite direction as I found it impossible to stand by without passing comment when a person who can't keep their own bees alive from one year to the next persists in recommending to newcomers that they adopt those same unsuccessful non-interventionist methods.Yes the forum is still staggered by the loss of Acebird.
That's the impression I'm getting too. From time to time I call in at the Bio-Bees forum, only to find that there's very little traffic there these days, compared with it's heyday. As you say, folk are probably finding that the reality of keeping bees doesn't quite match with their rosy expectations ...Ravenseye: I do think that a lot of the "save the bees" folks who jumped into beekeeping a few years back are not doing it any longer.
You're very welcome. Ironically I'm building 4 of them now. In all honesty I couldn't figure out a reasonable way to market it. Knowing that and how much I've learned from other beekeepers I decided to contribute my idea. I'd be lying if I told you I didn't feel a tinge of happiness when I see folks using them all over the place in photos and videos.DCoates: Thank you for providing the 5 frame nuc design and cut sheet that is made available on the BS "Build It" tab. I wish you had a $1 for every one that beekeepers around the world have built. You have contributed to affordable and efficient beekeeping for us all and I appreciate it. I have probably built over 100 of them myself.
"He became involved in kind of a nasty dust up here in June; https://www.beesource.com/forums/sho...7207-Mann-Lake"
I had missed that thread back in June and wasn't aware of any online animosity created by that debate. I do not know who Tenbears is other than from his posts on here over the years. I do know this however; being confrontational with someone like Jim Lyon makes no sense at all. There a 3-4 people on here that have made a very positive impact on keeping bees via their educational and informative posts. To me Jim Lyon is at the top of the list. Quite frankly he's very humble and extremely knowledgeable. I have met Jim and he's also that way in person. For me the post in June shows that Tenbears has a very short fuse and is very defensive. I also recall a post back awhile ago regarding solar fences where Tenbears again became very argumentative and defensive. Why is it that in many cases those individuals that have the least to offer wish to speak the loudest?
