I haven't had much experience with laying worker colonies and I have a question on their temperament.

I know that an otherwise calm hive can become nervous and a bit aggressive when a queen is absent, and will then calm down when a laying queen is once again present in the hive.

Will a laying worker colony remain aggressive, or will they calm down when new eggs show up? Just wondering if it is the queen pheromones that settles the colony down, or the new brood.
