Hello everyone, would like to get you're opinon ? would it be better for the bee's to feed syrup or candy board's to bee's? also same question say for new packages? feeding in the spring ? feeding in the fall ?
Syrup, I'd say is more important with new packages to keep the colony fed while they build comb and get acclimated with their new queen.
Candy, from what I'm used to is more of a winter thing to keep moisture in check inside the hive and a non-frozen food source whenever they feel the need to get at it. Both are good options if they'll take it. If not, oh well, they're must be better sources elsewhere. After your first year, they should have adequate supplies to sustain themselves without added help.
