My two hives survived the awful winter and bees are out flying this week. When I went up to feed the usual 1:1 mixture of sugar and water, I was surprised to find that some capped honey remained in the extra super I had put on last fall. Looked like about half remained. Should I keep the super on until empty? Should I forget about syrup until then? Or feed both syrup and capped honey? This is only my second season so have not encountered this before.
