Sycamore for hive bodies?

We have a fair amount of sawn sycamore that has been stacked dry for 10 years. Was wondering if anyone has used sycamore for hive bodies? Thanks.

Sycamore is pretty expensive for bee hives. It goes for about $9-10/Bd Ft. quarter sawn. It would be pretty heavy to be throwing around in your apiary.

I think you could sell the sycamore and go with a lighter weight material and still have some money for a vacation.
Same weight as most pines other than sugar pine or white pine per cubic foot.
We only have time invested in the wood so I think we will make some deep hive bodies and see how they hold up.
Post some pictures. Let us see what they look like once you've got them assembled, but not yet painted.
