From the shop vac swarm I caught the other day. I cut the fresh comb from the vac and rubberbanded it to a frame. Looking at the frame today and there are mites crawling on it. Counted 5. Real easy to see on the fresh white comb. I didn’t expect to see mites like that with a new swarm. They looked smaller than the avg v-mite. Same red color though. They just looked like baby ones crawling around waiting for some brood. Thought it was strange. When I hived them I did give them a medicated pollen patty. So that should help.

I caught a fat swarm about 3 weeks ago (I know...YAY ME!). Two weeks ago I put a white board sprayed with pam under their sbb and just now looked at it today. I found 4 mites on it. I've not really had issues with mites before but I'm thinking this is a good number? Considering its been two weeks.
