Swarm traps

Howdy folks,

Been awhile since I posted;work and home life has been hectic lately.

Anyhoo......

I got my top bars built and stationed. Now for the bees. I do know they make swarm traps to catch bees so they can be transferred to a hive. In my understanding they use some sort of scent to get them in the trap.

My question is why couldnt that same scent be out in the empty hive and cut out the need for a swarm trap, and (if anyone knows) where can I find the scent needed to attract a swarm into my hives?
