Good day,

Two years ago I was able to trap a nice fat swarm with only a wooden box of about 20 litres without any frames or foundation. However, it was a real pain moving them to the hive...

This year I am trying to build some traps "by the book". I know, I know: there is no one single "right way", however, this question is rather clear and should have not too many "correct" answers I hope:

I am planning to use my old 8 frame boxes for the traps. I am thinking of putting a couple of dark drawn frames. I will also put a few drops of LGO...
From last year I have a few frames with uncapped honey, pollen etc. Should I put these or it's no use and will only attract yellow jackets and other candy lovers like ants etc?

Thanks,

You probably have no worries up your way with Small Hive Beetles, but leaving frames with pollen in a swarm trap might be inviting Wax Moths. I use all empty comb in my swarm traps. One less thing to worry about.
