I just watched my hive swarm about 2 hours ago. I failed in my first attempt at capturing them. Now they are 20 feet up in my neighbor's tree and we are in for a storm. What will they do in the storm?
They make themselves into a kind of "thatch" where they overlap and run the water off the outside. If the wind is high enough, it may not work that well. But if it's not, they do pretty well.
Well the good news is they made it through the storm. The bad news is my feeble attempts to knock 'em down where I could get them only served to chase them to regions unknown. I sure am learning a lot today. These ladies are cruel teachers.
