Hello all, A friend captured a swarm in a 5 frame nuc and gave it to me. Can I transfer the bees immediately (within 24 hours) to a 10-frame box. Is that too disruptive? They have been moved at least 3 miles from their swarm capture. I wanted to get this person’s supplies back to him.

I think you should wait till the queen has laid some eggs and have open brood and oriented to the new location.

Ok. You will see more swarms in a week than I will in a decade, so I'm listening. You would not worry about just dumping them in or you would not worry about transferring the frames they are on.

I assumed they were on frames. Either way I have very few problems with bees absconding.
