Hi,

I recently had my hive swarm (on Sunday) and can find them anywhere. I have a swarm trap in my yard, using a pheremone lure and LGO. There was never any activity around the trap until my hive swarmed. Now, there's bees around it all the time. They are going in and out and spend the night on the front in a ball. However, there's only about 30 bees...that's all.

Questions:

What do you think is going on? Is this normal activity before a swarm moves in? How long does a swarm spend out in the wild before it moves into a new home?

Thanks for all your help.

Could be lost scouts. The swarm went elsewhere while those scouts were out. They came back and with the swarm gone the LGO was the closest thing they could find to the queen pheremone so they moved in there.

Time will tell but that's what I would bet. I've been wrong before, just ask my wife. ;)
