So to day I walk up on my bee yard and in one of my thaw horn tree is a pretty big swarm. So I take my dog to the house and head back to the bee yard and when I get there the swarm was gone.
I have been in my hives and as far as I know every hive had no SC as of last week.
I did have 2 DBL. nucs I pulled the queens out of and the hive {2} hatched out some queens but they have lots of bee so I do not think it was them . Any way I look at all my hives and all have day old eggs. Will a hive swarm with day old eggs in the hive meaning there was a laying queen yesterday.:scratch:

I can answer that one.. YES... I had my #2 hive do me that way just about 2 weeks ago. Queen decided that she wanted to go and did so. However upon looking through the hive i did find SC's. But there were plenty of eggs all over the place that the queen had left behind as well.

Is there a remote possibilty there could there have been more than one queen in there?

Perhaps the swarm was not from any of your own hives?

There was only one queen that I could ever find as she was from a package this spring. Since the time of the swarm i've found no eggs as of yet. The new queen emerged a few days ago so it won't be long. I think some queens want to ensure the ability of the hive once they leave so they lay right up to time to swarm in any open cell they can find.

As for it being a swarm from someplace else, not in this case as an eye witness advised me of which hive they came out of.
