the "size" of the box is a keeper determined value. the bees do not care.
use what you feel best fits your , age, size, strength, budget etc.

any age or back issues go with a shorter one as it will be lighter.
TRY to then stay the same for frame interchangeability.

this is a what would Bill be best suited for? question

Given all my givens, i would run all mediums except I have a large investment in deeps, so I run a deep on the bottom and mediums all the way up.

Same for me. Pretty standard deeps for the brood, and mediums for supers.

Once you pick up a deep full of honey you'll realize why we use mediums - and that's even with my rock climbing master crimp fingers talking.
