I just installed a nuc hive when I get ready to add a super do I need to add a queen excluder or leave it off to let them make more brood and suplus honey? Just want to make sure they have enough honey to make it through the winter.

I would leave it off, I wouldnt add the super until about 8 frames full on the bottom. Also might want to move a frame of brood up and replace it with a empty in the bottom to help the bees move up.

That should be 8 frames full if you have a 10 frame hive setup.
